Casa per la Pace - La Filanda

The association Paths of Peace ADV manages on behalf of the Municipality of Casalecchio di Reno Casa per la Pace La Filanda, in via Canonici Renani.

The association Paths of Peace was established on 22 December 1995 as an evolution and rethinking of the Solidarity Committee with Sarajevo , active in Casalecchio during the war in the former Yugoslavia.

The new association summarizes the transition from a concrete and immediate response to the emergency towards a more cultural phase, involving the community on the issues of peace and peaceful coexistence between different cultures.

Since September 1997 the association has been registered in the Regional Register of Volunteering and has assumed the legal role before Onlus - non-profit organization. time of A.D.V. voluntary association, according to current regulations.

Paths of peace has over 200 volunteers enrolled, and has a historical experience in the territory of Casalecchio of cultural interventions and deepening on the issues of peace, nonviolence.

The association collaborates with local institutions, with a particular commitment to local schools, thanks to volunteers, activities, initiatives, projects always aimed at a culture of non-violence and peace.

The origins of the association Paths of Peace date back to the 80s, the commitment of a group of people who have contributed first to the experience of the "rainbow group", born to encourage youth aggregation, and after the birth of the "Children’s Solidarity Committee" with the aim of helping young people in need.

The Cross Mill of Casalecchio is what remains of an old hemp and wool spinning plant that from 1851 to 1929 employed workers and especially workers and long used the driving force of the canal. For over ten years it has been one of the services of the Municipality of Casalecchio di Reno, it is called House for Peace and is managed by volunteers of the association Paths of Peace. The volunteers have organized themselves into interest groups and organize various activities.

Environment deepens the themes that concern the choices that fall on the environment that surrounds us, the exploitation of the territory and lifestyles highlighting how these choices deeply affect the culture of peace of a people.

Documentation archive for peace, consisting of a paper archive, a library of about 800 volumes, a newspaper library and the important documentation center of the international pacifist manifesto CDMPI: a collection of over 5000 pacifist posters. The volunteers of the group are responsible for setting up and organizing exhibitions on site and outside, providing numerous activities: internships of university and medium students, contacts with different institutions.

Disability In Casa per la Pace, workshops are organized and run with the aim of making disabled and disabled people interact, with the conviction that everyone has something to offer and to receive. Today they are active: the Chorus 100 steps, theater workshops, creative writing, drawing.

Economy of solidarity is an economy that puts women and men at the centre of its activity with their projects and their stories, their relationships and the environment in which they live. In particular, the group addresses the issues of critical consumption, Solidarity Buying Groups (GAS), justice budgets, fair trade, ethical finance, organic producers, responsible tourism, etc.

Gruppo acquisto solidale Gas, the group gathers 65 members and organises purchases of food from organic farms, possibly in the area, such as the box of fruit and vegetables grown in Valsamoggia in organic farms distributed every Tuesday. We also organize seasonal purchases from other regions in social cooperatives, deliveries from small family dairy farms, always organic; canned tomatoes with preventive financing for a clean and transparent production chain and a real alternative to the caporalato and ghettos.

Hiking and trekking, born from Paths of peace and Polisportiva Masi to organize hiking and promote the culture of walking as a pleasant activity in nature, which is good for the body and mind, suitable for everyone. We organize weekly appointments with short or longer routes; but also excursions of a day or more.

Training The association collaborates with the educational institutions of the area by providing, thanks to the volunteers, activities, initiatives at school and with the school, proposes projects and support to teachers and students for a training preparatory to a culture of non-violence and peace. The Seeds of Peace program has become an important and consolidated tool of educational activity and a reference program for local schools. Teachers and parents find in association updating, training and support for activities to take to class or to organize together. In association there is also a support activity for difficult situations, to encourage the inclusion of young people with difficulties.

Nonviolence The theme of memory has been and continues to be a theme of association. Testimonies of the Second World War, which precisely in our territory has left many signs are brought to the reflection with memories, visits, discussions.

Unfortunately, reality does not spare us the conflicts of which in the House for Peace we try to deepen the information through the knowledge of the areas, the motivations of conflicts. Together with these issues, information and awareness-raising has been developed on the fight against military spending, on tax objection to military spending, on nuclear disarmament, on the production and trade of weapons, on the campaign against armed banks.
