In June 2006, some Hiking, Naturalistic and Environmental Associations of Bologna and Province, decided to create a coordination structure that would be able to organize and promote the activities of individual associations. Thus was born the Consulta per l'Escursionismo Ambientalistico e Naturalistico del Territorio Metropolitano di Bologna or, more friendly Consulta Escursionismo Bologna.

To date, the associations that support the consultation are: Cai BO - C.S.I Sasso M. - Montagna Incantata - La Nottola - La Rosa dei Venti - Madreselva - Oltr'Alpe Monghidoro - P.Museale Val di Zena - Passo Barbasso - Paths of Peace - Project 10 lines - Selenite BO - T.C.I. Bo - Trekking Italy Em.Rom. - The Teatro dei Mignoli.

The main task of the Consulta is therefore the promotion of hiking in the territory of the province of Bologna harmonizing the activities of the individual associations that support it and share its objectives. To carry out this task, the Consulta defines projects that are then implemented, in harmony with each other, by the supporting associations.

Among the most famous projects we remember the annual series of excursions called "The hills outside the door", now in its sixth edition. The expansion and reorganization of the network of hilly paths, with two new signposts, 902 and 904. The project of Bologna Pedestrian, for the connection between the paths "suburban" and the paths in the city. Last but not least, the strong participation in the national initiative of the "Day of Urban Trekking".
