National Park of Llogara

Llogora National Park is located about 40km on the South-East of the city of Vlora, on the air border between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea, it extends on an area of ​​1010 ha. It is formed by a watershed which includes 800ha of forests and the rest of pastures, meadows and rocky places, that are very steep. Nearly half of the surface has a slope of over 30 degrees, facing North-West, with altitude rising from 450-2018m, the peak of Qora. To the south is the highest mountain peak, the peak of Cika (2045m). The land is brown forest and mountain meadows, above limestone. It is part of the Mediterranean climate zone, the Southern mountain sub-zone. There are 4 main ecosystems in this park: Black pine ecosystem; Macedonian Fir ecosystem; Rooster ecosystem and alpine pasture ecosystem.

These integral parts of this complex ecosystem form a true natural oasis that combines coniferous forests, pastures and pristine natural landscapes. The variety of terrain forms and habitats located in it, constitute a perfect refuge for a large number of species of flora and fauna. The park is characterized by the presence of a number of species of national and international importance. From the species of fauna we mention: wolf; the mountain eagle; Cika snail, Cika endemic shrimp. From the flora species we have a number of species that include several categories such as endemic species: basan flower; lightning violet; the bloodshed of the Kerauns; Cika arenaria; subendemic species such as: Balkan lily; important species such as: forest cloves; autumn cycle; narcissus.
