Landscape View Point

Cika mountain

Cika Mountain is 2045 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak of the Ceraunian Mountains.

Çika Mountain is located on the Sea Coast, between the Ionian in the west and the Shushica valley in the east, with a southeast-northwest extension and with the highest peaks of Çika (2045 m) and Qorre (2018 m). Its western slope is complicated by a large tectonic fault, from which many blocks of limestone have slid on top of each other and caused this slope to fall step by step over the Ionian Sea, forming the Himara Riviera, the most picturesque part of all over the Albanian Riviera. The eastern slope is gentler and falls over the Shushica valley. Today's relief forms are very sharp, with sharp peaks, steep slopes and very deep cliffs.

Mount Cika is the peak of the Ceraunian (or Acroceraunian) range. Also mentioned in Lord Byron's epic poem " Shtegtimi i Çajld Haroldit ", this mountain range stretches almost the entire length of the Ionian coast until it reaches the southernmost city of Saranda. The western slope of Cika Mountain is the result of rocky divisions caused by historical tectonic movements.

The panorama from Cika Mountain reveals a vast expanse that includes three other remote areas: the Karaburun Peninsula. Cika Mountain is a mountainous area with Pinus austriaca forests and flora typical of limestone soil.

This trail traverses the LLogora National Park from its south and leads to the highest parked point “the peak of Qorre 2018 m, with altitude above the level of the Ionian Sea. At the entrance to the trail is a pile of older black pine trees throughout the park. The process of obtaining resin from their trunk during the communist period until the 1990s can be clearly seen in these trees. Up to an altitude of 1550 m or known as Qafa e Dhiaporit, the forest stands are of the black pine (Pinus Nigra) type with Mediterranean shrubs,  and rich herbaceous vegetation.

From the point 1550 mm altitude to 1850-1900 m above sea level continues the ecosystem of Rrobulli (Pinus leucodermis) which is characterized by a healthy cluster with age ranging from 3-4 year old seedlings to hardwoods hundreds of years old.

The surface from an altitude of 1850 m to 2045 m above sea level are alpine pastures with diverse herbaceous vegetation, calling them endemic and medicinal plants.

It is the pathway with the largest number of endemic plants.

Along the path are also fortifications of World War I, World War II and communist-era bunkers. Also traces of the tradition of livestock breeding as abandoned stalls are found at several points at different heights.

The Cika Mountain is included in the "Cika Anticline Belt" it starts in the North from the Cold Water and extends in the South for approximately 60 km to Qeparo-Porto Palermo. According to the transverse fractures that affect Borsh as well, it sinks in the sea and reappears in Kakome. The forehead of this belt is also the forehead of the Ionian Zone which is bordered by Sazani through the Ducati syncline covered with Miocene terrigenous and Pliocene molasses.
