A building with a neoclassical façade, the result of nineteenth-century re-elaboration and later restoration following heavy damage sustained during the First World War, Gorizia's duomo preserves traces of the pre-existing Gothic chapels and largely retains the Baroque structure imprinted at the end of the 17th and beginning of the eighteenth century, although it is missing the eighteenth-century frescoes lost as a result of the air raids.
