The Polesine composer Antonio Smareglia passed away in Grado in 1929 in the house of his nephew Aldo, head physician of the town hospital, in Via Marchesini 32, where he often stayed. The house was next to the house of Biagio Marin, a poet from Grado, of whom Smareglia set to music two lyrics in "Canzoni gradesi" (Songs from Grado) for voice and piano.
