Built on the site of an ancient church, possibly Lombard, it is the result of the fourteenth-century merger of two early medieval churches, of which the current building preserves precious Byzantine-style mosaics. The Gothic layout, visible in the façade with its marvellous rose window in Istrian stone and the internal layout of the naves, was remodelled with the reconstruction of the apse in 1932, which is today decorated with elegant marble slabs and a mosaic created by the Friuli Mosaic School.
