Monte san Pietro - cuore dei colli bolognesi

We are just 15 minutes from the beautiful city of Bologna, but immersed in the typical landscape of the Tuscan Emilian Apennines, in the valley of the river Lavino. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, spectacular gullies, vineyards as far as the eye can see, ancient villages, ancient paths and a rich network of paths.

Monte San Pietro is a town made of scattered villages and this is precisely the feature that makes it unique: you can not find everything right away, because both the natural beauty and the historical-artistic are to be searched in the vast territory, where unexpected treasures and enchanting landscapes will surprise you.

The highest point of the territory is Monte Vignola (817 m asl), where the springs of Lavino are located.

The capital is Calderino (90-100 m.s.l.m.), a locality chosen since the first decades of the 19th century as a municipal seat, without giving its name to the municipality; in Calderino is concentrated about 40% of the entire population of Monte San Pietro, thanks mainly to its location: at the entrance of the Lavino valley and a few kilometres from Bologna.

Another populous hamlet is Monte San Giovanni, which forms an urban whole with the Colombara.

Then, many small hamlets that preserve testimonies of history, traditions, culture, of this territory: Amola, Loghetto, San Chierlo, Ronca, Monte San Pietro alto, Oca, Badia, Gavignano, Montepastore, Montemaggiore, Mongiorgio, San Lorenzo in Collina, San Martino in Casola.
