Justin Godar Street

The "Justin Godar" street ensemble presents a street on both sides of which there are buildings that represent the typical Vlonia dwelling. Some of them have the status of First Category Cultural Monument. Among the buildings with a historical character, we mention the building where Marigo Posio embroidered the national flag. Before the 90s, this street served for state commercial activities, as well as being inhabited by old citizen families.

After the 90s, residents settled in it and started selling used clothes. This street consists mainly of one- and two-story buildings, which stand out for their stylized facades and decorated with special architectural elements. The roofs of the buildings are mainly covered with local and Marseille tiles. Small balconies with stylized parapets appear on the facades of the buildings.

The monument is presented in a double state. On the one hand, the old residents who have constantly taken care of the maintenance of their buildings, while on the other hand, the recently arrived residents, whose lack of care has led to the degradation of the buildings. The buildings present damage to facades, balconies, doors, windows, construction, railings, roofs, etc.

Today, this road is part of the Requalification project in the protected urban area near the center of the city of Vlora and as such is being restored, it is currently being restored.

The street consists of buildings with the same construction system with retaining stone walls, connected with lime mortar. The covering is made with a roof construction with country and Marseille tiles. The division between floors is made with wooden construction. In special buildings, there are also mix systems, such as stone wall construction plus reinforced concrete construction, brick and wood construction.
