The walls of Aulona

In the archeological area of type A there are the ruins of the ancient castrum of Aulona, from which a fragment of a wall with towers was found in the 1910s. The entire area where the ruins of the ancient fortification are thought to be located is located in the archaeological zone A. Archaeological area B around area A is thought to be the part of the settlement outside the fortification walls as well as the ancient necropolis. The archeological area of the pier is related to the existence of the medieval castle built by Sultan Suleimani, the ruins of which are thought to be located in the area around the current stadium of Vlora.

The walls of Aulona are built with opus-mixtum and it is a fragment of the fortification reinforced with towers. The octagonal castle of Vlora is a building of the Ottoman period built with the techniques of the time.
