Vala in Mokalo

The southern side of Pelješac is proud, according to many visitors, of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic. A small exotic place not far from Orebić, Mokalo, hides the most beautiful one. Vala in Mokalo is surrounded by the intoxicating scents of a dense centuries-old pine forest, and the view from the Vala extends to the surrounding vineyards of prized Pelješac wines, postup and dingač. Abundance of natural shade, small pebbles that are pleasant for walking barefoot and a pleasant Mediterranean climate are a real lure for a family holiday with children and for visitors looking for an escape from the busy city crowd and stressful everyday life. Not far from the beach, next to the enchanting sea reefs, there is a cafe and a restaurant to discover the traditional flavors of indigenous seafood delicacies and wine drops. In this area, many visitors treat their taste buds to the taste of raw shellfish (most often oysters, which are the most recognizable here), octopus from peka (a traditional way of preparation) or fresh fish prepared as the old inhabitants of Pelješac used to prepare it in their homes.

Camp Vala is located in the deep shade of a fragrant pine forest and centuries-old olive trees, and it covers an area of 1.10 ha, right next to a pebble beach. The camp is categorized with 4 stars and can accommodate up to 80 guests who enjoy the view of the island of Korčula, numerous small islands and rocks, and the terraced vineyards of Pelješac. The camp has a range of activities available, including sailing, diving, fishing and rent-a-bike for exploring.

Hiking and mountain trails are available for discovering new horizons and knowledge. These are trails for people of different experience, fitness and adventurous spirit. An interactive online map of hiking and walking trails on Pelješac was created through the joint efforts of tourist boards. The map is available at the link: https://www.dalmatia-trails.bike/peljesac-staze/. Some of the hiking trails are marked, while others are not marked with classic markings, but digital traces are therefore available for all trails. Tracks can be downloaded and used on smartphones and watches.

While exploring the surroundings, visitors are recommended to visit Stankovići, an old settlement from the 15th century near Orebić. The perfect combination of simplicity and luxury prevails here. Namely, it was here that former sea captains built their magnificent villas. The whole picture is completed by the chirping of crickets, the smell of figs and vines and the view of the endless open sea.

Fun fact: Mokalo is a real hidden gem among visitors. Here they easily discover the indigenous smells, tastes and aromas of Pelješac. Although it is a small hidden settlement, Mokalo has always been attractive as an excursion and bathing place.
