Podobuce

Podobuče is a small bay and settlement on the southern side of the Pelješac peninsula. Tame, beautiful, colorful and far from any form of mass tourism, Podobuče offers in miniature all the beauties that make the peninsula such a diverse destination. The settlement has just over 35 inhabitants, which puts it in the group of small and well-preserved fishing and agricultural villages. Podobuče is located in the wine-growing area where the best red Pelješac wines of the Plavac mali variety are grown. These are some of the most famous wines from the protected growing areas, around Croatia and the world famous locations Dingač and Postup. The romantic village takes on its fullness only with a glass of ripe Plavac from the nearby vineyards, after which you can go for a walk towards the vineyards.

Podobuče consists of a series of Dalmatian houses, whose architecture reveals to an experienced observer their own function as fishing and viticultural residential buildings, by no means summer houses for drowning leisure. Podobuče has always worked, in front of the stone houses by the sea and above them in the field. In the central part of the settlement is the church of St. Andrew. The church was built in the 17th century as part of the summer house of the Dubrovnik Renaissance poet Mažibradić. Today's settlement was formed around it. Fishing, viticulture and tourism are the basis of today's economic activity in Podobuče.

There are several vacation houses and apartments in the resort, all of which are located next to the beach or very close to it. They face the Pelješac Canal in turn. The settlement is located in a small, beautiful cove like a postcard, where the first houses almost touch the sea and where you drink your morning coffee to its sound. The beach that separates the sea from the houses is a pebble beach under the shade of pine trees, which gently descends into the clear blue of the southern Adriatic. Next to it is a small harbor where local residents tie up their boats after returning from fishing or when they return tourists from a tour of nearby hidden corners and smaller beaches. Smaller beaches nearby can be reached on foot and romantically enjoy the seclusion of all the charms of Pelješac. On some of them, you can take off your clothes and bathe in a natural way.

Podobuče is a destination for wine, romance, vacations, and fishing. Insiders say that fishermen rarely return empty-handed. The geographical position of Podobuče makes it an excellent starting point and destination for one-day trips to Mljet, Korčula, Dubrovnik or another Pelješac destination.

Fun fact: Podobuče is a small, romantic place made for a relaxed family vacation without noise and constant surveillance where the youngest members are. They are here, bathing!
