Cycling Trails on Peljesac and in the Dubrovnik Coast

The area of the Pelješac peninsula is best known for its excellent wines and cuisine, along with the beautiful Mediterranean beaches, of course. Recently, considerable efforts have been made to ensure that the guests of Pelješac can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. Pelješac is ideal for cycling due to its length and relief. That's why the tourism boards of the peninsula, in cooperation with experienced local cyclists, have designed and created an interactive map of bicycle paths on Pelješac.

The map of cycling paths on Pelješac has a total of five circular paths with a total length of 184 kilometers. The map is available at the link: https://www.dalmatia-trails.bike/peljesac-staze/

The map contains information about all routes, and you can download digital traces of individual tracks. The lengths of individual circular paths range from 28 kilometers to 50 kilometers, which is the length of the longest one. The difficulty of the trails ranges from medium to extremely demanding. It is necessary to take a sufficient amount of water on all trails. Not a single trail is fully marked with classic signposts, but its written record is available in digital form. All trails combine riding on macadam and asphalt, except for the most difficult trail (trail no. 1), which, in addition to the aforementioned surfaces, also includes three kilometers of riding on mountain roads. The trails start in the following places: Orebić (trail no. 1), Kuna (trail no. 2), Žuljana (trail no. 3), Ston (trail no. 4) and Orebić (trail no. 5). You move on the trails at your own risk, so be prepared, take the necessary equipment with you, and don’t litter.

The Municipality of Dubrovnik Primorje in cooperation with the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service has created an interactive network map of bicycle paths in its area. To make it easier for cyclists to navigate the terrain, QR codes with location markers and information about the terrain they are on, have been placed. That is why it is recommended that cyclists have a mobile phone with an internet connection with them, which will greatly help them not to get lost. The first marked path is the themed bicycle path "Stećci of the Dubrovnik Primorje" with a length of 50 kilometers from Slano to Bistrina.

Fun fact: Interactive maps of bicycle paths are continuously updated with information about taverns and restaurants, places of rest and pleasure for recreational cyclists and athletes.
