Fabiani Bridge

Max Fabiani envisioned a bridge nearby as early as 1895 as the end of a road inner ring modelled on the Viennese Ringstrasse. A good century later, the idea was realized. The bridge, with its two-level design and park arrangement, enhances the area next to Plečnik’s locks and establishes a dialogue with the renovated Cukrarna building. While the upper lane is for car traffic, the lower is reserved specifically for pedestrians and cyclists. Structurally, the bridge is positioned among the prestressed reinforced concrete continuous structures, but it has a restrained and elegant form.
