St Jacob’s Bridge

This reinforced concrete bridge over the Ljubljanica replaced the dilapidated 19th century bridge. It was the first time in Slovenia that a cantilever structure was used, the work of engineer Alois Kral, an assistant professor in the construction department of the provincial government. The bridge was designed by architect Alfred Keller and echoes Vienna’s architectural language at the end of the Art Nouveau period.

(Alojz Král, Alfred Keller, 1915)
