Trnovo Quay

Stone from the nearby quarry at Podpeč was unloaded onto the Trnovo Quay (former harbour) as early as in the times
of Roman Emona. In 1934, Jože Plečnik
transformed the harbour into a park by the river and with a stretch of elegant
stone steps allowed the townspeople
to come into contact with the water. Weeping willows avenue offers cool and shelter as well as creating dramaturgy of the space. New street furniture was installed during the 2009 renovation. Plečnik’s benches were replaced with wide wooden benches, access points were reinforced with oak logs and discreet lighting was installed.
