Kremasta Dam

Kremasta Dam is located on the Provincial Road Sideron-Alevrada, in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania. It is a hydroelectric dam 153 meters high, which was built in 1966 and created the largest artificial lake in Greece, Lake Kremaston. It is the tallest earthen dam in Europe. And it is a great achievement for the country, as inside it there are power plants, but also a diversion tunnel for as long as water is not needed, or it threatens to flood the area. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
