Tower or Castle of Paravola

Pyrgos or Kastro Paravolas is located near the homonymous town of Aitoloakarnania. These are the ruins of a fortified site, which included the walls of the ancient city of Boukatio, fortified with Byzantine towers. Today, the ruins of the ancient acropolis are preserved, part of the walls of the settlement, built in the 4th century BC, but also the remains of the Byzantine towers. The best-preserved part of the castle is the Byzantine tower on the citadel, which is preserved at a great height, has three windows and two doors, but also a stunning panoramic view of Lake Trichonida. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Visitable hours: Free Access. Source of photographic material: Photo archive of Mr. Karakostas Konstantinos SV1CQN.
