Vlochos Castle

Vlochos Castle is located in the promontory of Panaitolikos Arapokefalas, at an altitude of 688 meters, on the north side of the village of Ano Vlochos. These are the remains of the Byzantine castle and the walls, in which are the ruins of the citadel of the ancient Thestians, while inside the archaeological site dominates the Holy Monastery of Vlochos. The castle was built by the Byzantines, in 1204 it came under the jurisdiction of the Despotate of Epirus and in 1450 it was occupied by the Ottomans. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Visitable hours: Free Access.
