Archaeological Site of Paleokastro

The archeological site Paleokastro is located at the top of the homonymous hill, on the west bank of the Acheloos river, near the village of Spolaita. These are the ruins of an ancient, fortified Aetolian city, also called Spolaita Castle. Traces of buildings and excavations have been found on the north side of the archeological site, while on the west side of the hill, at the Katsimbireika site, an archaic sanctuary was excavated in 1986. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
