Village

Sacile

Called “the garden of the Serenissima” for the lavish greenery thriving on the banks of the meandering river Livenza, Sacile is a beautiful town to make a pleasant walk between squares, bridges and palaces. You should not miss a visit to the wide main square, Piazza del Popolo, the Cathedral and the small Church of Pietà, and the imposing Palazzo Ragazzoni with its amazing 16th century fresco paintings. An inscription recalls today the house at via Gasparotto (at the time named via S. Martino e Solferino) where PIER PAOLO PASOLINI lived as a child between 1929 to 1932. He went to primary school in Sacile. In his works he avows he started school very early, at the age of 5, and wrote his first poem aged 7.
