Nested in a spectacular lagoon, Marano is a historic fishermen’s village with a long history and ancient traditions, deeply marked by a long domination by the Serenissima Republic of Venice. Out in his hunting and fishing trips along the river Stella criss-crossing the lagoon of Marano, ERNEST HEMINGWAY often made a halt at the "Bilancia di Bepi", a hut along the river holding a large powered fishing net (25 m x 25 m).
