Rio

Rio is a coastal settlement located in the Prefecture of Achaia. It borders the settlements of Aktaio, Kato Kastritsi and Magoula, is about 8.5 km north of the center of Patras and is connected to Antirrio via the Rio-Antirrio Bridge. In the northern part of the settlement dominates the historic castle built in 1499, while in the wider area are the facilities of the University of Patras and the University General Hospital. The old name of the settlement was Agios Georgios and according to the 2011 census the population amounts to 4,664 inhabitants. This point of interest is Coastal and Urban. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
