Vrachneika

Vrachneika is a seaside town in the Prefecture of Achaia which belongs to the Municipality of Patras. It is about 12 kilometers south of the center of Patras and borders the villages of Tsoukaleika and Monodendri. Its name comes from the mountain village of Vrachni in Kalavrita, where the first inhabitants of the area came from, while stone tools and Mycenaean cemeteries have been found in it, which testify to its habitation from the prehistoric and Neolithic era. According to the 2011 census it has a population of 2,571 inhabitants. During the summer months it is a popular tourist destination due to the restaurants that operate in the area.
