Lighthouse of Patras

The Lighthouse of Patras is located in the coastal area of the Holy Temple of Agios Andreas, next to the fish ladder, and was built in 1999. The first lighthouse was built in 1858 on the pier of Agios Nikolaos and was wooden. However, it was destroyed during a storm and was replaced in 1878 with new stone, which was demolished in 1972 due to work to modernize the port's infrastructure. The new lighthouse has mainly cultural use, not shipping, and is one of the most important attractions of Patras. This point of interest is Coastal and Urban. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Source of photographic material: Wikipedia.
