Achaia Clauss Winery

The ACHAIA CLAUSS winery is located on the homonymous hill in the area of ​​Petrotos, was founded by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss in 1861 and since then has been making continuous wine. Clauss came to the area in 1854, was enchanted by the seductive landscape and bought a small vineyard from which the Castle-Winery eventually emerged. He was the first to produce the sweet red wine Mavrodafni, which took its name from the black eyes of his beloved Daphne, and is considered to have established the institution of Wine Tourism in Greece.
