The Monastery of St. Mary of Zvërnec is located on an island inside Lake of Narta, in front of Zvërnec village, surrounded by lodgings, with a porch on the second floor that can be open for the church. The lodgings of the monastery with the loggia are on the north, northeast and northwest side.

The church itself is of the cross type, with dome, narthex and exonarthex of an open porch with the column on the other side. The old part is made of nave in the form of a cross with narthex. The narthex has the form of a rectangular, with longer ribs towards the north.

The narthex is covered with a cylindrical vault being directed in the northwest direction.  It passes directly to the nave, to which it is highly connected, this passage is with a space for the west wing of the cross. The Western-forming vault that covers it, is intersected by the narthex vault.The nave includes on its plan the cross with east and west wings longer than those of the north and the south. The wings of the cross are covered with cylindrical arches that hold the drum like arches.

On the west side is clearly visible the junction of the contact of the two walls that is added later with the exonarthex covered with a cylindrical vault on east west. Of the same period with it, is the porch with the column that occupies the northern part. It is open almost all this way, by having the entrance in the middle, in front of the narthex door. The church dates back to the second half of the XIV century.
