Myrtia

Myrtia is a village that belongs to the Municipality of Pyrgos and is located 13 km southwest of Amaliada and 11 km north of the city of Pyrgos. The village pre-existed during the revolution of 1821, as a Christian settlement by residents of several families. Its name came from the abundance of myrtle bushes, which at that time covered the barren sites of the settlement. According to the 2011 census, the population amounts to 898 inhabitants, who are engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture, with the main product being olives and olive oil.
