Vounargo

Vounargo is a village located in the Peripheral Unit of Ileia at an altitude of 80 meters and is about 10 kilometers northeast of the city of Pyrgos. It is a historical village of Kefalochori, which existed at the time of the Frankish invasion, in 1205. Its name means white mountain and refers to the rock of Frangopidimas, which is visible from the entrance of the village. All levels of education operate in the settlement, while the population, according to the 2011 census, amounts to 778 inhabitants. The economic prosperity of the village is mainly due to the fertile land and the fertile fields, where olives, fruits, vegetables, citrus fruits and raisins are grown.
