Varvasena

Varvasaina is a picturesque village located in the prefecture of Ileia at an altitude of 55 meters. It is built along a valley, between low green hills, while it is about 5 km east of the center of Pyrgos. Its name is due to the estates owned in the area by the wife of a landowner, known as Varvasi. The contribution of the village to the Greek Revolution of 1821 was also important, with the most famous fighter being Nikolaos Tritsimpidas. In 2011, the settlement had approximately 1,107 permanent residents. This point of interest is Plain and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport.
