Katakolo Lighthouse

The lighthouse of the port of Katakolo is located at the end of the peninsula and the Gulf of Kyparissia. It was built around 1865 and has been designated since 2001 as a historical and the newest preserved monument of the area. It is a building of French origin with a total height of 45 meters, with its stone tower reaching 9 meters high. During the Second World War the lighthouse remained off, while in 1946, as part of the reconstruction of the Lighthouse Network, it underwent technological improvements in its mechanism and reopened. In 1978 the lighthouse was electrified and now operates as a supervisor. This point of interest is Coastal and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round.
