The Gessaroli’s path

This path bears the name of the ancient miners (the gessaroli). For centuries they have been extracting and working by hand the chalky mineral deployed for construction purposes within an impervious yet fascinating territory. The trail is about 1 km long and starts from Borgo dei Gessi (where the chalk miners lived) and continues along the area of the chalk outcrops of Monte Rocca, Monte Castello and Monte Capra. The path is interspersed with resting points for visitors equipped with tables and benches, and information boards displaying themes relating to the chalk karst phenomenon and other naturalistic aspects.
