City Hall

Sarajevo City Hall is an emblematic neo-maurish edifice, built during the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina to evoke oriental spirit of the city yet in the same time to represent the power of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Initially serving as the seat of the city's mayor, after the Second World war it became the National Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the siege of Sarajevo, in 1992 it was severely bombed and burned to the ground. In 2014 it was rein augurated after 18 years of reconstruction.
