Val Resia and the writer Ilaria Tuti

Born in Gemona del Friuli, Ilaria Tuti is a young writer who has gained an international reputation for her detective stories focussed on police commissioner Teresa Battaglia, a lady with a strong personality engaged in the solution of cases set in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where the writer lives.

Val Resia is the backdrop of the Ilaria Tuti’s novel “The Sleeping Nymph”. Once entirely isolated between Mounts Musi to the south and the imposing massif of Mount Canin to the east and to the north, the village of Resia and its valley is an interesting linguistic language (they speak an ancient Slavic dialect) and a proud custodian to ancient crafts and traditions (costumes, chants, dances and rituals), which are ideally illustrated in the local museums, including the Knife Grinders’ Museum and the Museum of the Resian People. The special natural landscape of the valley, which belongs to the Park of the Julian Prealps, offers the chance to experience a number of hiking tracks.
