Karaiskakis

Karaiskakis is a lowland village located in the Peripheral Unit of Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 30 meters. It is built at the foot of Mount Veloutsa, borders the village of Vasilopoulos and is about 6 km from the town of Astakos. It was originally called Dragamesto, while its current name is due to George Karaiskakis, who during the Greek revolution of 1821 maintained his camp in the area.
