Theisoa (Lavda)

Theisoa is a settlement of the Prefecture of Ileia near the ancient city of Theisoa, from which it took its name. It is built at the foot of the Lykaio Mountain on the border with the Prefecture of Arcadia. Initially the settlement was called “Lavda” which was originated from the first builder and a Byzantine lord named Lavdas, to whom the area belonged to. In 1821, the inhabitants of the settlement participated in many battles, while in March of the same year the battle of Agios Athanasios took place in the area, in which the Greeks won. According to the 2011 census, the population of Theisoa is 89. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport.
