Krepakore Castle

Krepakore Castle is located above the village of Fanari in Ileia, at the top of Zakouka on Mount Minthi, at an altitude of 1345 meters. It is not a simple castle, but an entire medieval settlement, which is estimated to have developed during the Frankish occupation and specifically, during the last decades of the 13th century. The Castle was also known as the Castle of Minthis, the Castle of Lynistaina or the Castle of Oria, while due to its strategic location it was used in many phases of history as a fortress of the natives. Inside there is a relatively large area with ruins of houses, water tanks and food warehouses, while around the perimeter have been found evidence that indicates the existence of fortifications and guard towers. The settlement of Krepakore, due to its altitude remains almost unknown, although it is the largest of its kind in the northwestern Peloponnese. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Source of photographic material: Personal archive of Mr. Adamopoulos Chris, Website: Fanari Andritsainas-Hleias - (http://fanariandritsaina.blogspot.com/2015/03/blog-post.html).
