Ampelokampos or Karakuzi

The village of Ampelokampos is located northwest of Amaliada and is about 9 km away from it. It is a lowland village with an area of 8.2 km and is adjacent to the villages of Korivos, Roupaki and Savalia. It has been referred to as Karakuzi since the Turkish occupation, which in Turkish means black eye. The inhabitants of the village, according to the 2011 census, amount to 468 and are mainly engaged in agriculture and livestock. The Monastery of Agios Athanasios is located from the time of the Ottoman Empire, a few meters outside the village, while on its north side you can find the abandoned well of Aga. The Church of Agia Paraskevi is located in the center of the settlement and to the east is the church of the Assumption of the Virgin. This point of interest is Flat and Rural. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
