Municipal Folklore Museum of Amaliada

The Municipal Folklore Museum of Amaliada is located in the center of the city and is housed in the basement of the Papachristopouleio Library of Amaliada. Formerly, until the earthquake of 2008, it was located near the Railway Station in a beautiful neoclassical building. The Folklore Museum contains exhibits from the folklore of the place, which come mainly from donations of locals, but also from Ileia immigrants. Specifically, the Museum exhibits local traditional costumes, furniture, decorations, agricultural tools and other everyday objects, dating to the late 19th and early 20th century. It also hosts part of the Amaliada Radio Station and a Collection of Traditional Reed Toys. This point of interest is Flat and Urban. Suitable season to visit: All-year-round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
