CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF ANTIRRIO "TO KASTELI": MARCH 13, 1829 - THE LIBERATION OF ANTIRRIO

The event consists of two parts.
In the first part, Theodoropoulou Paraskevi-Tatiana, philologist, general secretary of the association, delivered a speech on "Antirrio 1821-1829".
In the second part, Irini Saroglou, researcher - historian, assistant professor of the department of modern Greek studies at the city university and born Secretary of IDISME (Institute of Historical Studies) gave a speech on "I am therefore a patriarch, how to save my nation", and referred to the pan-Hellenic character of the revolution.
The event as a whole is addressed to the residents of Antirrio, but also to all the residents of the municipality of Nafpaktia, from the moment that the surrender of the castle of Antirrio on March 13, 1829 paved the way for the liberation of Nafpaktos, almost a month later, on April 18, 1829. It is also addressed to all those who are interested and concerned about history, but also to those who find it difficult to approach and understand it, especially students and younger people. It also renews and enriches the collective memory and that is why it is completely in line with the real meaning of paying homage to the event that marked the birth of the modern Greek state, the revolution of 1821.

Place: Hormova square of Antirrio.
Time: July 17, 2021
