Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos

The Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos was founded in the 12th century in the settlement of Analipsi, in an impressive natural landscape with a magnificent view of the settlement and Lake Trichonida. Inside there are great hagiographies and elaborate constructions with important cultural and historical value. It was one of the most important monasteries in Western Greece and played an important role during the Turkish occupation. It hosted many fighters, founded a school of common letters and, was a refuge for most of the surviving Exit of Mesolongi, in the early hours of April 12, 1826. The monastery was dissolved in 1834 by decision of Otto and many of its sacred relics are in the Holy Monastery of Prousos. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. It is accessible all year round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
