Holy Monastery of Panagia Eleousa

In a deep green gorge near the village of Lygia, is the Monastery of Panagia Eleousa. Right nearby there is a cave with stalactites, whose water is considered holy water. The Monastery was built in the 9th AD. century and took its name from the icon of the Virgin Mary found in the area. The surname Eleousa was given by the inhabitants, who asked for its protection. In the revolution of 1821, the Monastery served as a base and shelter for Greek fighters. This point of interest is Flat and Rural. It is accessible all year round.
