Archaeological site

Archaeological site of Kato Samikos

The archeological site of Kato Samikos is located north of Lake Caiaphas, on the western slopes of the Lapitha mountain range. It is an ancient city that included a prehistoric and a classical citadel. The first extends on the rocky hill Klidi, while the second is located east of the ancient city. The classic acropolis had a Roman bath and an early Christian church and had a lifespan from the 4th century BC. to Roman times. The whole city was in a strategic position, because it connected Pisatida with Trifylia and western Messinia and had the dominance of the fertile plain of Samikos. This point of interest is Flat and Rural. It is accessible all year round. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Outdoor areas. Constantly open.
