Acropolis of Platiana

The ancient acropolis of Platiana is located in the southeastern part of the Prefecture of Ileia and specifically, south of the current homonymous village at an altitude of 617 meters. It is a fairly fortified city, which is built on an inaccessible high hill of Mount Lapitha. Its location was of particular strategic importance, as it controlled the road from Pisatida to Megalopolis and the rest of Arcadia. The archeological findings of the defensive fortifications, the theater, the market, the temples and the ancient houses, indicate that the period of prosperity of the ancient city was the late classical and the Hellenistic era. This point of interest is Mountainous and Rural. It is accessible all year round. It is not accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket. Outdoor areas. Constantly open.
