The Holy Monastery of Panagia Vlacherna is located in the settlement of Kato Panagia, was founded probably before the 9th century and its name is due to the famous Panagia of Vlacherna in Istanbul. The central part of the monastery has been characterized as one of the most beautiful of the 13th century, the marble sculptures found inside it come from an older early Christian church, and also the impressive frescoes date from the 18th century. The monastery is surrounded by a magnificent natural landscape of infinite beauty and hosts a nursing home for the elderly women of the area. This point of interest is Coastal and Rural. It is accessible all-year-round. It is not accessible through public transportation.
