Vouraikos Cave of Heraklion

The Vouraikos Cave of Heraklionis located in the southeast of the settlement of Eleonas and functioned as an oracle. It is a cavity in the cobblestone rock at the foot of Mount Mamousia and, according to Pausanias, inside it was the statue of Hercules from which the faithful threw animal ankles and read the oracles in the so-called Tables of Knowledge. This point of interest is Coastal and Urban. It is accessible in the Spring and Summer. It is accessible through public transport. It has no fee or ticket.
