Trenches

A path leading from the fortified settlement Tonocov grad to the river Soča was already used by the natives in the past and was partly completed by the Italian soldiers during World War I. The Italian Army built three defence lines. A part of the 3rd defence line ran along both banks of the Soča river. The historic path leads through trenches and fortified positions used to defend the passage over the Soča river. You can visit the machine gun nest, the lookout point and the cave. The latter was part of a set of bunkers organised into a system of round defence.
