One of the most popular frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo is the Singing Angels in the chapel of Udine Cathedral, painted in 1726-9. With their less than angelic physicality, they are characterised by their red cheeks, mischievous poses, and a touch of carelessness (they drop their sheet music), evidence of the Venetian painter's typical lightness of heart.
