The territory of Spilimbergo is adorned with rural and parish churches decorated with frescoes, mostly from the sixteenth century and often by the most famous Friulian Renaissance artists, including Pordenone and Amalteo. According to traditional iconography, in the pendentives of the apsidal vaults, alongside the Evangelists and the Doctors of the Church, there are depictions of angels playing music. Among the most spectacular ones are the church of S. Pietro in Travesio, the church of San Lorenzo in Vacile, the churches of S. Stefano and S. Maria dei Battuti in Valeriano, and the church of SS. Martino and Biagio in Vacile.
