The construction of a theatre on the initiative of agricultural landowner Vittorio Zancanaro dates back to 1911. Heavily damaged during the First World War, it was restored in 1921 but reopening was delayed until the 1930s. A curious character is linked to the history of the theatre in those years of recovery: a certain Dante, a handyman who helped the manager of the theatre and provided assistance on silent film evenings by playing the violin without ever having studied music. He left one day for America and never was heard from again.
